To all UK Citizens in uk.politics.animals

Despite large reductions in animal testing since the early 1980s due
to improved in vitro methods there was still over 3 million procedures
in 2006 in the UK.

The Humane Household Product Standard signifies that no finished
products and none of the individual ingredients they contain have been
tested on animals by that company or its suppliers. Other schemes
exist, but it is the only internationally recognised standard which
requires companies to prove what they claim.

To be endorsed household product manufacturers must be able to
guarantee that they:
* Conduct or commission no animal testing
* Not use ingredients animal tested after a fixed-cut off date (FCOD)
* Ensure the FCOD is observed throughout their entire supply-chain by
careful monitoring and independent audit

To learn more about the HHPS go to
http://www.BUAV.org/

Early Day Motion 1215 asks the UK Government to stop granting licences
for the animal testing of household products including their
ingredients.

Please ask your MP to sign EDM 1215 via

European Directive 86/609 is the legislation that defines all animal
experimentation in Europe. It is currently being reviewed and the new
version is expected to be ready soon. This review is an opportunity to
make replacing the thousands of Primate experiments each year with
humane alternatives a priority.

If you think that this is important please sign the petition Ban
Primate Experiments at
http://www.animalaid.org.uk/h/f/ACTIVE/petition/?id=11&campaign=experiments

Tony of London, England
