Those who say they believe all animals have the right to be free.

Ive been wondering exactly what you aras believe is
wrong with raising animals to eat. We know its not that it
deprives them of life, since they only have life *because*
they are raised to eat, so what exactly is the wrongness?

And who says that?

Well, as we discussed elsewhere, I think most people would think there
was something wrong with bringing humans into existence and killing
them for food. We would be violating their right to life, even though
if we had not acted in this way they would never have existed. You said
this account was totally lame, but I think its a pretty good
explanation of a widespread moral intuition. Since animal activists
believe nonhuman animals have a right to life, they think similar
considerations apply in this case too.
